Amret Supports Cambodian Youth in Exploring History and Financial Literacy Through the "10,000 Steps for 10,000 Students" Initiative

Jul 24, 2026

Phnom Penh, Cambodia – Believing that education and historical awareness are essential foundations for developing future generations, Amret is proud to support the "10,000 Steps for 10,000 Students" initiative. Through this three-year program, Amret is sponsoring educational visits for 10,000 Cambodian students to the Preah Srey Içanavarman Museum of Economy and Money (SOSORO Museum).

As part of the initiative, 200 students from Hun Sen Serey Pheap High School in Kandal Province recently visited the museum, where they explored Cambodia's economic history, the evolution of the Cambodian riel, and the significant role of the national currency in the country's development. Through interactive exhibitions and historical artifacts, the students gained valuable insights into Cambodia's cultural, historical, and economic heritage.

Reflecting on her experience, Dalika, one of the participating students, shared:

"I am truly excited, as this is my first time visiting the SOSORO Museum. Seeing the historical artifacts and learning about the evolution of the Cambodian riel has helped me better understand Cambodia's culture and history from ancient times. This experience has inspired me to continue learning more about our nation's history."

This initiative reflects Amret's ongoing commitment to investing in education and youth development by providing meaningful learning opportunities beyond the classroom. By encouraging students to explore Cambodia's history, economy, and financial system, the program aims to foster greater knowledge, curiosity, and appreciation for the country's national heritage.

The Preah Srey Içanavarman Museum of Economy and Money (SOSORO Museum) serves as a unique educational center that showcases the relationship between Cambodia's economy, monetary system, and society throughout history, while highlighting the important role of the Cambodian riel in the nation's development.

Through its support of the "10,000 Steps for 10,000 Students" initiative, Amret reaffirms its commitment to empowering the next generation with knowledge, inspiring lifelong learning, and helping build a brighter and more sustainable future for Cambodia.
