Amret Delivers Humanitarian Aid and Personally Prepares Meals for Over 2,000 Displaced Families in Siem Reap, Battambang, and Banteay Meanchey
Dec 20, 2025
(Phnom Penh): Amid the current challenging circumstances facing Cambodia and its people, Amret Microfinance Institution has been directly providing humanitarian assistance and personally preparing meals for nearly 2,000 displaced families—approximately more than 5,300 people, including over 2,000 children—who are currently staying at three temporary shelters in Siem Reap, Battambang, and Banteay Meanchey provinces.

In close collaboration with local authorities and displaced communities, Amret has jointly organized and prepared two meals per day (lunch and dinner) for all 5,300 residents over a full one-week period, from Monday, 15 December to Sunday, 21 December 2025.

In addition to providing meals, Amret also delivered humanitarian aid in the form of food supplies, essential consumer goods, and daily necessities, including rice, canned fish, instant noodles, fish sauce, soy sauce, soap, toothbrushes, and clothing for displaced families. Furthermore, Amret provided educational materials and nutritional support for children, such as backpacks, storybooks, coloring books, milk, and snacks, to young children staying at the three temporary shelter locations: Wat Rorkal Camp (Svay Leu District, Siem Reap Province), Wat Sangkeva Camp (Bavel District, Battambang Province), and Wat Tuol Prasat Camp (Mongkol Borey District, Banteay Meanchey Province).

This is not the first time Amret has contributed to easing the hardships faced by its clients and affected communities. In the past, both the institution and its staff members have actively participated—through moral support and financial donations, in various forms and according to their individual capacities—to assist displaced families and affected communities.

Looking ahead, Amret is continuing to plan further initiatives to provide ongoing support and alleviate the burden on displaced populations.
Since the onset of the conflict along the Cambodia–Thailand border, Amret has actively supported and implemented various measures in line with the guidelines of the Royal Government of Cambodia and the National Bank of Cambodia. These measures include waiving interest charges, deferring loan repayments, supporting clients who are injured soldiers, and writing off debts for families of disabled veterans and fallen soldiers.
Together, we firmly believe that through unity and solidarity, we will overcome this difficult period side by side.
Stronger Together.
